Adegoke Segun is the Special Adviser, Migration and Homeland Security to the Executive Governor of Oyo State. He has 35 years leadership experience in the fields of National Security, International Law, Border Control and Migration management, Immigration Law and regulations, applications of provision of ICAO Annex 9 at Airports, as well as pioneering work on behalf of the United Nations in zones of conflict. He is a highly qualified Lawyer in international collaboration for mitigation of varying cases in addition to a hands on experience of ease of doing business, as an identification specialist, with airport operations and facilitation experience. Adegoke has been an invited speaker at many conferences on Immigration Law, Conflict Management, Alternative Dispute Resolution, international trade and investment. In 2003, he was the Nigerian representative at the Conservative African Business Group of the House of Commons, London, United Kingdom, where his wealth of experience in these fields was heralded as an invaluable resource in the contemporary world. With deep interest in protection of civilians, he has received multiple awards for achievements in public service including the United Nations Medal in recognition of his duties and service of peace in South Sudan.
Before his appointment as Special Adviser, Migration and Homeland Security in 2022, he worked as the Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration in Charge of ECOWAS and African Affairs at the Service Headquarters, Abuja; where he coordinated the implementation of the ECOWAS Trade Liberalization and Free movement of Persons Protocols, and the African Continental free trade Area (AFCTA) Agreement. In addition, he was Comptroller of Immigration at Zone ‘F’ Ibadan in 2021; the Comptroller in charge of Rivers State Command from 2019 to 2021, and the Commandant, Immigration Training School, Kano in 2018
Presently, he provides professional service to the Executive Governor to protect the state and manage the flow of people and products into and out of Oyo State; and to serve as a “One Stop Shop” welcoming foreign investment and participation in mining ventures,as well as assist the Government to create a spirit of cooperation and goodwill in Mining and other mineral exploitation activities through Enhancing end-to-end performance of the mine -to- market value chain for greater optimization in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act,2007 for the benefit of Oyo State.
He is a Fellow Chattered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management, member, International Bar Association as well as Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, United Kingdom
